Help me build my engine

I've been out of the gasser game awhile. I'm in the process of getting parts for my little 460. Currently it is EFI and a stock 1989 engine, bone stock from an econoline E350 with 34k original miles. I'm using the chassis and dana 70 from this van. I have put a kingpin dana 60 up (matching 4:10s for now) front and have 4 linked the front and rear... also have a 52 ****** truck body that's going on it C6 (i already put a reverse manual VB and high stall converter in it) NP205 and an aluminum bed I made for it
This project is a dedicated mud bogger with welded gears and for now only 39.5x18 tires. Clearly it won't be driven often but when it is it will be driven hard and put away wet.
So with that being said here's the tiny bit of a plan that I have. Use the bottom end of the engine is have mostly to save money on machine work. Limit power to 5-600 ponies. The only parts I currently have for this portion of the project is the C9 heads I just picked up the other day. I know I want roller rockers and so far and edelbrock torker II intake. This engine build will be based around EFI and not a carb so I'll have smooth power and semi reliability as much as my budget can afford.
So.... any help for a diesel guy out there would be much appreciated

You do realize you are going to have to buy the expensive adapter plate for efi to work with those heads, right? Price motor sports is the name, if I recall.

That's not my plan. I will be using a torker II intake and welding injector bungs into it.

I see. Have not had any experience with efi, but see no reason that wouldn't work. I have scorpion roller rockers in my 460, never had any issues with them. Can't beat the price either. Make sure you get some pushrod guides and hardened pushrods for your setup. I am running C9-VE heads as well. Since I was replacing valves and seats anyway, I spent a little more money and had larger valves installed. Especially for your application I would think this would be worth looking into. What are you thinking of using for a cam?

I plan to run on pump gas. In my research with the heads and efi block I believe this should set me around 9.36-9.86:1 compression as of now and that's dependant on a handful of things I haven't gotten into yet.
I was looking into those scorpion roller rockers. I've had a few bbf guys tell me that's the way to go. I was also thinking 1.73 rollers.
3/8" push rods for sure. As far as cam I have no idea at this point. I don't have too many things set in stone and am gathering as much knowledge as I can before I start purchasing parts.
My plan is to do a shake down run with the current efi setup. I figured this would be wise since I have had my hands all over every single aspect of this rig. Nothing is exactly stock anymore. I have a lot of work to do before I can run it, the body is not even on it currently until I finish the suspension.
I have no problem spending a little more on something to make it better than it normally would be. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot yet either as I have quite a bit of money to spend before it's near ready for the mud

As far as the bottom end what is the MAX RPM you'll be looking to hold in the mud?
460.com has a sticky for the 460 horsepower revised chart that will give you a good idea of what to expect out of the engine.
Which EFI are you going to use? The e-series EFI, something like FAST, megasquirt?

I have looked at that chart many times. It's hard to get a good read with the setup I'm planning. I don't see a need to spin it more than 5500-6000.
I actually joined the 460ford.com and have been waiting to have my account verified by someone.
I don't believe I will be going with much factory for the efi. I'm open to suggestions at this point on what setup to go with.

FAST EZ EFI is just that, easy. It's self tuning, read its durable and reliable. If you're not computer savvy this is a good way to go. It mounts on 4130 intakes and its like the old TBI systems.
If youre looking for sequential EFI then the mega squirt is a good option too. I dabbled with it in 2010 and it was over my head (turbo 280z) I ended up copying a guys tune and messing it up. It has a steep learning curve for me anyway, I don't really have the patience for setting injector dwell time etc etc.
