I just seen this today and I have never noticed it before, does anyone know exactly what they are called or have part numbers? I've tried google and eBay and can't seem to find them, I want a set to out on my F350 to keep mud from getting into my engine bay even though I don't offroad. They are the rubber shields in the pics
I too wanted to replace the rubber pieces as mine are torn a bit around the upper shock mount. We found no number at my local parts counter. It was assumed that they are part of the hard plastic inner fender.
I found a place on line that sells something called masticated (sp?) rubber for making similar things for older cars. It's sold by the foot. I plan to order some, and make new ones for my Ex...but just haven't gotten to it yet...
look under up under your bumper, also look inside you grill at the sides the whole length of the radiator.
the top one you see in the engine compartment as well as the sides and bottom are sealed off making a channel that creates a zone of positive pressure that directs air through the radiator rather then around it. they are a crucial component to the cooling system.
Ok the drivers side engine shield is discontinued by Ford, the passenger side is available because the 6.0 Super Duty uses the same engine shield. The passenger one is still available because Ford seems it's necessary to keep water off the starter from what my buddy told me, also it's $17 he told me. Wonder if the passenger side will fit the drivers side with a little trimming? Or it looks like I'm now on the hunt to find rubber to use
I have a roll of 3'x15' 1/8" rubber I got at the local metal/MOST AWESOME PLACE EVER yard a few months back. It's suppose to be really nice tomorrow so I'll make some cardboard templates and see how that goes. If they don't last I'll have to get the fiber reinforced stuff. Do any of yous have a pic of the entire shield mounted? I completely forgot to get one of those the other day
