$ 3000 for a new 450lbs
I hoping to find one $1000-1500 hopefully
I found a nice 150lbs but the hearty hole is a little to small for the stuff I found
The big ticket itam is the hammer $3000-6 7 8 9000

I think you are looking for "leads" and not LED's (light emitting diodes ) and you want a large anvil with a large "hardy" or "hardie" hole.

Good luck, I have been picking up blacksmithing tools where I can and they are like gold, which you have figured out.

Chris - our blacksmith was here today and I asked him where to get equipment. He said try this site - they sometimes have good deals. We have no connection to it. Hope it helps.

How big are the brackets you're making? That's some heavy equipment. Course with that being said I'm looking for a 500# anvil myself because I want one.

There is an app that watches craigslist for you for certain key words in categories that you want to watch. You can find good deals that way. Good deal on an anvil seems to be about $3 a pound. Make sure it's in good shape, check the rebound, not all anvils are created equal. Power hammer will run at least $5000, heck of a deal going on for a new one at Big Blu right now (10% off)
Big Blu Hammer

Don't forget your PPEs, ear muffs and safety glasses 100% of the time, and don't look into a forge if you're pumping up the heat, it produces stuff that can blind you like arc welding at higher temps.

Cross peen hammer is my personal favorite. Big as you can control after 20 good swings.

Have fun

I had a idea to contact a retired welder that I picked up a ford scripted bed from and he told me he had a anvil and some tools to go with it, so I went by there today and to my surprise he had a amazing garage

And man was there some nice toys in there!
This was the anvil I picked up but he also was selling 52 the F4

He had a very nice 53 too he just put power steering on it

That garage is what dreams are made of. Awesome.

Nothing to add to the topic, other than when I was a teenager and messed something up my dad used to tell me I could break an anvil . He never specified what size though....
