I went to the dealer today and placed the order for the following:
F250 CCSB 4x4, 6.2, 4.30, Caribou and Adobe, Clothe 40/counsel/40, XLT Value Pkg, Cab Steps, ESOF, Camper Package, Powerscope Mirrors, Upfitter Switches, Review Camera, and the Tailgate Step.
I was on the fence about the 4.30's but after test driving two different trucks I opted for a little better acceleration etc. with the 4.30. MPG isn't the major concern as it is not my DD, more of a dedicated trailer puller. I thought the truck would have better drivability with the 4.30.
Thanks to all the information provided on this site, extremely helpful.
I can't say enough how much I wish I had 4.30's. Even my daily driving would benefit from them. I will order my next truck so that I can get the gears. You made a great choice there, and also with Caribou. I have been leaning towards it for when I order.....
You did the right thing sgeorge with the 4.30 gears. I couldn't find 1 on the lot with a 4.30 geared SD to compare with the stocked 3.73's but everyone here at FTE steered me to the 4.30's, not a bit disappointed. I too do not use my SD for a DD so mpg isn't a big deal. Running empty I get right at 12.5 mpg @ 70mph, drops down to 11.8 @ 75.
Tows excellent Vs my then F150 5.0L and with a higher mpg when towing.
Almost 8 months old and at 4700 miles.
You made the right choice! I just picked up mine three weeks ago (took 7 weeks), 2016 F-350 CC FX4, Lariat, 6.2, 4.3, SRW short bed. I traded in a 2012 F-350 6.7 after starting to have multiple emissions issues. I tow a 10K fifth wheel about 3K miles total per year, mostly in one two week trip each summer. The rest of my driving is in city traffic and the 6.7 didn't like that. Couldn't be happier with the new truck, getting 12.5-13 mpg breaking it in (easy driving) and looking forward to seeing how it pulls. It's in 6th gear by 35 mph and just over 1000 rpm.

The your new 6.2L will not come close to the pulling power of your old 6.7L. I really miss my old 7.3L.
Agree, the 6.7 was amazing. However, when 95% of my driving is empty city driving, I'll just have to suck up the pride when pulling. It'll be nice to hopefully not have the truck in for issues as well.
Very similar to what I ordered except I went with the Lariat and did the boards and flaps aftermarket. Picked up the Platinum boards from a shop for $100 and went with Duraflaps. Only have 500 miles, mostly highway, and am getting 12.4 mpg. Will post pictures when the cap gets in. You will be happy with the 4.3. My wait was only about 5 weeks.

This is how it is for me too. I have been away from my 6.7 for a few years now and don't miss it. I love the simple worry free 6.2. The only thing that I will do different next time is the gearing.
We still have one diesel left. It just threw its first CEL....P20EE at 22,000 miles. And its coming up on fuel filters. Front and rear me doing it still burns a c-note.
I ordered mine about the same time as you sgeorge. Mine is scheduled to be built next week, on 5/4. I also ordered the F250 CCSB 4x4 Lariat with the 6.2 gas and 4.30 rear end.
I have heard so many good things about this combination except for the mileage. My response is always, "if I was that concerned about the mileage, I would not have bought a 3/4 ton truck!"
I also hear a lot of noise from the diesel guys saying I should have gotten a diesel. I always find it funny that most of my friends who drive diesels, do not need them. I will take the lower up front increased cost, lower long term preventative maintenance costs, and lower repair costs any day. I think for a lot of my friends at least, it is a "cool" factor they like about driving a diesel. I have but a very few friends who actually "need" a diesel and those that do, it is for their business, not personal use.
So, I am going to enjoy my 6.2 with 4.30 rear end and have a lot of fun with it! I hope the rest of you do as well!
I agree with you WyoBull, I have three friends with diesels. Only one of them pulls any kind of trailer and that is 1 time a year. The other two are glorified grocery getters and they paid $60,000. I pull at least once a month between my boat and travel trailer, not more than about 6,500lbs. I didn't need the diesel just to stroke my ego. Plus I paid $20,000 less for the truck. They get pissed when I explain to them why I bought the 6.2, their only response is "the diesel is so much better". Why?????
Got my VIN this week from Ford Customer Service on this site, but nothing shows on cotusb.com so I have no idea about a build date. I am stopping by the dealer today to see if they can tell me.

I'm am(was) a diesel guy, and I say no one should get a diesel anymore for practical matters unless you tow heavy and/or regularly. Since going to the big V8 gas I've never been happier with my SD. Easy care, no worry driving and no getting stuck on the side of the road in BFE somewhere.
I don't think my building partner thought his '14 6.7 was very cool the 2 times he called my to come get him off the side of the road. That was also my first experience using Ford's road side assistance program that I have always seen the little card for in my owners manual.
20 years ago everyone I knew was transitioning into a 7.3 or a 5.9 diesel. Now, most of the guys that did that have transitioned back to gas.
Congratulations on your new truck, it will be sweet!
