how she sits

Well everyone else has been sharing their babies so I figured I"d throw mine up here, shes a pretty sad sight now but she'll get there. I picked this lady up back when I was 17 drove it for about a year then she spent most of her time sitting getting used here and there. Then about two years ago I started tearing into fixing her up then life happened and she sat until about 3 months ago. At that point I decided I'm either fixing it or selling it, I decided fixing her up was the right choice. So here she is today while I rebuild a 76 front axle so I can have disk brakes.

When you are typing your post, look just above the space where you type and one of the icons is a yellow square with a picture of a mountain. Click that and then click browse your device. If you are going through the image attachment and it is just not coming through, try another browser. Internet Explorer will NOT work for me with pictures as well as the emoticons. No idea why, but Firefox works fine for me on the same computer.

So the real question is what is behind the trash can completely holding up your truck? If you are working on the axle swap in that spot, do yourself a life saving favor and put some supports just behind the xfer case.

A 3,2,1 stack set up of railroad ties works great and can be way safer when under there.

As far as the truck, great idea to fix it up. Love the 16.5 slotted mags.

lol jack stands under the front cross member, when it comes time to put the axle going back in the stands will move to behind the springs and the front of the truck will be held up with the tractor with some beefy chains. and yeah i love the slotted mags too but i hate having only one option for tires so most likely will be swapped out for something new...

Use blocks or jack stands, the hydraulic system on a tractor and chains should not be trusted with your life.

Good start on your project, I like the wheels!

16.5 military takeoffs are NOT the only tire option, just the cheapest 37" you will find for sure. 16's with the correct off set will sure open up your "drive in and buy tires" capability.

Flip sale them slotted mags on here if you do, some folks sure do love'm.

Make sure them jack stands have a some solid ground to set on, hate to see ya get hurt.

I have all 4 and in terms of stands they have big ol pads on them dirt is starting to dry and I'm not worried about the chains and hydro system both are brand new, chains are heavy trucking chains with a stupid high weight rating and I have stops built for the rams anyway so if the system tries to droop it can't. I love the mags too but my options are limited to bfg's for street use, there are a few out there like boggers but the wear is atrocious on those then I start getting into the military 37s and I don't want to lift my truck so..... I'll probably hang on to them but if I do let them go it will be to a good home.

No Darwin awards here, we may do all sorts of idiotic and potentially deadly things on the farm but when it comes to working under things we always play it as safe as possible(most of the time that is)and big girl is heavy so extra precautions are to be taken. I wish I had a lift but that's an expense I cant seem to justify..
