Check the transmission temperature after a long cold soak. After sitting all night the transmission, EOT, and ECT should all be within a few degrees of each other. If the transmission temp is more than a couple of degrees off you may have an issue with the circuit or the sensor.

If you have the 4.3" LCD screen in the instrument cluster you should be able to see oil temperature(EOT) on the same screen as transmission temperature. Coolant temperature(ECT) is a generic OBD parameter that any OBD gauge can see. Think you mentioned something labelled "Coolant" on your mini maxx, that would be ECT.
