2008 F250 5.4 5R110W to Cummins 5.9 CR throttle question
Hey guys.
I'm researching putting a Cummins diesel to replace a sick 5.4 3v with 236K miles. I'm looking at a 2005 engine that uses a DBW throttle, with a 1-5V signal and a 2-10V signal to the Cummins ECM. In order to keep the transmission happy, and the cruise control working, I was thinking about using the ETB signal wires to control throttle on the Cummins.
I think the ford uses a PWM 1-5V output for the stepper motor in the throttle body. My plan is to use a signal isolator/converter/splitter to convert the digital PWM 1-5V signal to a analog 1-5V and a analog 2-10V signal. I also plan on disabling all of the ETC error checking to prevent limp mode and hopefully keeping the ford ECM happy.
Does this sound feasible? Or am I making this too complicated?
Thanks!
