I also recall the Cadillac blocks being more desirable because they supposedly used a better cast iron or process or maybe both.

Yep, those were the days:

Casler "Cheater Slicks" (for those who had the bucks) or Atlas Bucrons (for those who did not)

Solid Lifters and 12:1 compression, SUNOCO and Shell SUPER 103 Octane PUMP gas

just to name a few memories...

Did anyone verify the oil cooler is not leaking internally? It would not be the first one I've heard of.

I'm not sure, as far as I know they ran several tests and came up empty handed, Service advisor said that ford suggested they change out the block (short block).
