Hey all, I got this 89 Ranger from my brother with the hopes of using it for a winter/work truck. He put it into a snow bank this past winter and the engine stalled out and it has never been able to start again ( just rolls over). Since he packed the front end full of snow, people have been telling him that he may have jumped the timing off, or damaged a coil pack, Well I just got the truck into my garage the other day, I replaced all the coil packs and spark plugs, ran new wires. It still doesn't start, but the engine does roll over, I am guessing the timing, maybe the crankshaft pos sensor?? any help would be great, thank you
Up under the carpet on the passenger side is the inertia switch. It shuts off the electric fuel pump when you run into something so it doesn't pump the whole tank of gas on the ground if you break a fuel line.
well I checked the switch, and it was pushed down, not sure is that means its open or closed, but I popped it up, and tried to start it, still the same problem, the engine rotates and cranks, I can hear it "puffing" like it is trying to start, but nothing, I have it on a charger right now becouse the battery dies easy
Well, its me again, I put a new timing sensor on today, and a new battery, I reset the fuel switch (made sure it was set the right way). When I turn the key, I can hear the fuel pump, and when I try to crank the motor over, it rotates, and tries to start, when I hold the key for about 20-30 sec, I can see vapors come out of the throtle body, since I left the air intake tube off. it wants to start, it seems so close too, this really sucks
