Yeah I'm willing to bet that's where it's coming from.

Ya I think you are right. Glad you knew what it was supposed to look like because I had no idea haha. Now I'm just dreading having to rip all that junk out again like I did for the alternator....

So here's my next question, looking at the parts on orielly website they have to pulley tensioners. One is 85.99 and the other is 81.99, the more expensive says the pulley width is 37mm while the cheaper says 29.5mm. So which one is the correct one?

It's not to bad of a job. Just remove top half of fan shroud and you can fairly easily reach in and access the idlers and tensioners. If you have to replace ac belt you'll have to remove one of fan shroud/stator bolts in order to get belt on and off. You'll see once ya get in there. Main belt can be worked on and off around fan if you're replacing that.

If memory serves me right the wider one is for main belt and narrow one for ac belt.

Have a look at your transmission dipstick. Mine rattles like a bugger off of the oil filler assembly. Very loud but also very obvious as to what it is.

Ya I'll check it out. Going to replace the auto tensioner here after a bit and hope that's the only pulley that is shot

Well there is good news and bad news. For the good I got the new pulley put on and the new tensioner along with new belt, for the bad it still making the noise. The more I listen it sounds like it is coming from the alternator area. The alternator is only about 4 months old and I just replaced the 2 idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley right there. What else is there that could be coming apart.??

Ahh crap...sorry man....I was positive that would have fixed it....sorry for the bad advice there. Take the belt back off and spin the alternator pulley by hand and see if it feels rough....give everything else a spin while you're at it to.

No problem man. I appreciate the advice because I did find the bad tensioner and a bad pulley. It's likely the ac tensioner but I just don't have the time to dig that far. It's in the shop now. Should here from them soon as to the diagnosis

So this pains me to say but the noise was the ac belt tensioner.... The one I couldn't reach because my damn arms are to big. Well that and the belt are currently being replaced at my diesel shop and will cost a pretty $500.00. Which I guess I can't complain about ford wanted 725 for the same job.

Rattling noise on 2013 6.7 powerstroke

Started my truck the other day and out of the blue I’m hearing a bad rattling coming from the front of engine bay. Hoping it’s a bad idler pulley and nothing internal. Please help!
