Ready to pull the trigger

Hi all. After much thought I'm going to order my next truck. Here's what I'm looking to get. The 2.7 eco boost, 3.55 e locker, sport appearance package, possibly fx4, and some other minor add on's. I don't tow anything. Use the bed for the usual Home Depot, weekend yard work etc. I'm really impressed with the engine. The question I have is the order guide says it's rated at 1960 payload with the rear. I usually get 3 to 4 tons of pellets a year. That would be my largest load for the bed. I think I should be okay hauling the pellets. I'm only 3 miles from Home Depot when I pick the pellets up. Also should I get the tow package? Thoughts? Thanks. I forgot it's the XLT

You will be fine hauling the pellets. I would definitely get a tow package. Even if you don't think you would need it, the time could surely come. Plus, most future buyers will want a factory tow package.

Are you asking if you should put 6-8000 lbs in the truck bed? No way. On a trailer rated for it you'll be ok.

The tow package will include upgraded cooling and a receiver hitch, which are good things even if you rarely tow. You can't simply bolt a hitch ball to the bumper anymore.

Sorry for the confusion. I only get a ton at a time. I'll definitely get the tow package. Any noticeable ride difference with the fx4 package? I like the fx4 graphics better than the sport.

Oh, okay. Yeah, I haul a 1000-1500 lbs of salt pellets at a time with no problem. My Dad has a 2wd Sport XLT 2.7 EB with a 5.5 bed. Ride is almost exactly the same as mine. The front might be a little softer.

You can always peel the Sport decal off. I like the FX4 decal enough to leave it alone, but I would prefer it to be smaller.
