I know we all like to follow certain threads that are either teaching threads or build threads, but the thing I find annoying (and I have seen others comment about this also) is when people get on the bandwagon of just typing in subscribing. This ultimately adds pages to a popular thread which results in scrolling through the equivalent of junk mail.
The best way to subscribe is in the box at the top right of a thread that says "Thread Tools" then you click on "Subscribe to this thread" and follow the instructions. A few more clicks and you are done with no "junk mail" in the thread.
I know this has been covered before but I find it annoying to get a notification that somebody has responded to thread I am following only to open it expecting some nugget of progress or information and I find "Subscribing" and nothing else. I know that is quick an easy but nobody likes junk mail.
I am now getting off my soapbox.
Thanks
p.s. please add at least your first name in your signature so if if somebody is trying to respond they can address you by that as opposed to some long drawn out user name.
I tried that up in the corner and nothing happened so I did what annoys you and I did it with a smile on my face but I will try it again and see what happens as I do agree with you.
Click thread tools, then click on 'Subscribe to this thread
That will open the next screen where you need to pick 'notification type' from the drop down menu..
Choices are
No email notifications
Instant notification by email
Daily updates by email
weekly updates by email
Click on your choice, then click on 'add subscription'
I like when I get responses on my threads, lets me know it is being checked out and hopefully helping someone. I should be updating the truck #2 build soon if I can pull myself from the caddy project, so feel free to post away
I can see subscribing as feedback, interest for the OP. Who really cares about my thread? I also see the problem for anyone with a slow internet connection.
Reps to you on this.
I've been around this site for a long time and I didn't' know about this feature (OK, so I'm lazy and didn't take the time to explore the "thread tools")
