Help! 2000 v10 f350

Knowledge and guidance well appreciated....My truck has been sitting for 3 years and I want to bring it back from retirement. I changed oil, checked fluids, replaced the starter, starter solenoid/relay and tossed in a 2 yr old charged battery (800CA). She would not turn over and I jumped with another vehicle. She turned right over and with an insane dust cloud! I went to disconnesct jumpet cables and it died. I assume the alternator is shot. Jumped again to bring up to temp so I coyld check tranny fluid. It was running for about 5 minutes and just quit. Nothing mechanically to my knowledge caused this. It quit peacefully. I went to fire it back up and all I get is a click at relay on inner fender. The new one. Even while jumping.....if someone could please help guide me in what I should test/diagnose next. Much appreciated!!!

You could have the alternator checked at a local auto parts store just to be sure. I have had issues with the connecting terminal cables that have brought on these kind of issues I would clean them and ensure they are tight at the battery terminals and I would check the grounds to the body are good. A rat or mouse could have chewed on some of your wiring. I would give it all a good look over.

After leaving it sitting for that long I am betting you are going to have a lot of dry rotted seals. I let one sit for a year and every valve stem seal was rotted and it started burning about 5 quarts of oil every 5k miles.

Have your battery tested.

For the dust cloud, no idea but if no smoke, etc. since then, I would not worry. The electrical issues sound like ground. I always shine up the connection and put on some nickel never seize on the connections and never have a reoccurring problem. ALL The battery, starter and solenoid connections should be focused on. Remove them all, clean, coat and replace. Also the connector to the battery cable, depending on the type. For the running issue, it almost sounds like bad gas. I had an '36 Pontiac that was sitting longer than your truck. When I was getting it running I drained the about 5 gallons of gas in the tank. As gas was $4.00 at the time, I added it to the half + tank of gas on my '89 Mark VIII. Big mistake. The car ran horrible until I got all the old gas ran out. Hope this is helpful.
