Dually Rim Spacer

Trying to plan out the mare build and I'm planning my tire situation. The budget will not allow new rims at this juncture. I've already accepted that. The stock 235's that are currently on there now would normally have to suffice due to said budget constraints, but 2 of the 6 are dry rotted. I wouldn't feel right taking it on a trip. I also need new springs for the front. So as of now the plan is the smallest lift RSK and SD springs. I could live with the 235's for a while IF I didn't need to replace them. So now we are getting to the point. I currently have a like new set of 285's on my truck. Can I make them work on a dually with stock rims? What kind of spacer am I looking at? Bill and I were looking at the dually axle last weekend and it doesn't look like there's enough stud to have much of a spacer. I know guys run large tires on duallys. Help a brother out!

It's not so much the stud, but the hub itself. The wheels are hubcentric so they have to be back on the part of the hub before it starts to taper. If there is a spacer that has a lip for the outer wheel to fit on, then you could use as wide of a spacer as you want.

Stock for a dually are 215's. The coils are new, I'll trade you the 3" plenums for them, LOL! I'm going to need a new set of tires for the OX soon and was wondering about how big I could go, the 215's are pretty small. Are spacers safe when you put 4K in the bed?

Sorry, I'm already stealing your thread!

Steel spacers work fine for my brother-in-law. They tow a lot to.

We were talking about stock size being 215 last weekend. I could swear these are 235's, but I never paid that much attention to them. I'll trade you coils for plenums all day. Just need you in Detroit!

This truck will be towing. Maybe not all the time, but regularly.

I run a 2 inch spacer in mine with the 265's. No problems at all, and I tow pretty heavy. I have about 1.5 inches between the tires. Got mine off ebay, unsure where though.

I run a 2 in spacer on mine and I have 315/75's on mine. I have about a 1/2" gap between mine so it's pretty tight. And X2 on what is stated about the hubcentric. I had 3" but they weren't hubcentric, and towed about 12k from Fresno ca to Kennewick wa with no issues. Then noticed some bouncing goin on, the the outer tire was able to shift enough to make it feel like and out of balance tire.

Stock tire size on a 4X2 truck was 215/85/16, and used an Acuride 29215 rim. The 4X4 Cab & Chassis trucks came with 235/85/16 tires, and used Acuride 29216 rims, which have more offset to get more space between the tires.

Thanks Darin. Do you have 2x4 or 4x4 rims?

Thank you. Any idea where you got them? That should be able to clear my 285's.

Thanks Tom. Bill and I were discussing the difference between 2 and 4 wheel drive wheels. This is my other question. Will the 2" spacer work with the 2x4 rims?

Reps sent to those that I could.

Before RRE I'll be moving a couple trailers. I'll have to swing by Nate's and get that trailer and take it to Detroit and could get the plenums then. Of course I'm just thinking out loud now.

Would 235's be any problems without spacers? I'm hoping to get another summer out of my Michelin Ribs but they are getting thin!

Todd, I have the 4x2 wheels. I'd say there should be no issues with your 285's and 2 inch spacers.

Glenn, I think 235's will fit without spacers. Don't quote me though..
