I'm in the middle of rewiring my truck and cleaning up the gauge clusters. Does anybody know where to get the cork gaskets that go behind the glass or the insulators on the back?
I ordered a bunch of parts today from several vendors but didn't find anything for the gauge clusters.
Searching gets me a lot of modifications or modern upgrades. Just looking for stock parts.
If anyone wants them, I have the gauges that were in my truck when I got it. Stock, but unknown how well they work. If interested I will send a picture, no charge for them just recycling them. You pay postage...
Firstrider, that's what I ended up doing. Gauge restoration is expensive and there is a back log of 6 months from the one place so far that replied.
Scott,
There's a speedo company in Calgary Alberta (Mr Speedometer) that is making up a new cable for me some the inner in my M-H extension was toast. Seemed like they have a quick turnaround, and would be about 20% cheaper with the way the dollar is even with shipping.
Thanks for the info CaptPayne. Good to know the options. Mine all works at the moment. I may get a restoration when I get to the paint and body stage of my build. That way the wait won't hold me back.
Trying to get my truck on the road for now. My new wire harness made a big difference AND.......I don't have to worry about bursting into flames anymore.
I went with an OEM type harness. I like the way it looks, matches the schematic and I'm not adding any additional electrical items. Maybe a 12 volt conversion so I can add A/C down the road. Not even a stereo, just a basic truck.
