Hey everyone, just in need of some knowledge here. My girlfriends dad just bought a new 2016 f350 to replace his 1999 7.3 f350 4 door long bed he bought brand new in 99. Its got 34x,xxx miles on it and has been worked on as things were needed. Its a good truck, clean and dent free. He has offered to let me use it anytime I want, since its going to be sitting around and the reason its lasted so long was because he drove it everyday. There are a few things that we want to do to it now that he has the new truck and can tell the major differences between the two!
So what we are thinking is that the front end is sagging quite a bit. We want to add a leaf most likely, but I dont know which ones to buy since there are different weight rates.
We are also going to be taking the stock rims and tires off his new truck. Ive read that 2" spacers are needed for the backspacing issue. The size is a little bigger but I think it should be ok? The rims are the 18" ones.
Also wanting to restore some of the lost power. He says that the injetors are probably going to go out soon, but we have talked about a tuner and maybe an air intake? I dont know much about diesels and the aftermarket support for these motors are crazy so thats what we really need some input on. Whats the best bang for the buck, something that just gets it some more upmh without making it a race truck.
I will be towing from Portland Oregon to Moab in about 12 weeks and its around 1000 miles in the summer heat, so I just want to get it dialed in better for the long trip.
Thanks guys! Ill get pictures soon so its not a boring thread lol
Haha yes 340,000 miles. 1999 4 door long bed lariat.
I was watching videos of the TS 6 switch tuner which is only $150 and it seems to get really good reviews. Hard to beat that price to liven up the truck a little. He was saying mainly the shift points just aren't right in that truck and the people that have that tuner says it fixes that pretty good. Would an air intake help some with power?
