92 351 efi rebuild
does anyone that has ever rebuilt this engine (bored over, new pistons) remember what the general cost was. i am going to pull it myself, and then after the block is done, put some gt40 p heads on with some new injectors. any ideas on cost for machining the block and putting the new pistons in???
i am not afriad to take on any rebuild, just need to know some prices...
thanks ahead of time for any answers...
by the way, after 135000 mile, it still runs like a top, just want to beef it up a little and then start cranking some power out of it....
thanks for any help...

Hey there tstpnb and welcome to FTE!
Most of your money will bw spent on labor at the machine shop, but it's worth it! I'll just run down a short list of must do's ans some options you may be interested in.
1. Have the block hot-dipped for a thorough cleaning.
2. Have the block completely inspection done.(to establish a good base for the re-build)
3. Bore .030. (you can go higher, but there's time for that)
4. Have the Main's line-bored. ( all main caps will become true after this maching is done)
5. Have all machined areas checked for trueness.
OPTIONS:
1. Take .010-.020 off the crankshaft. Have the oil passages opened up. Have it polished.
2. Have the existing rods magnafluxed. If they're good, have them machined to 1-3 grams of each other.
3. Have the crankshaft balanced with the rods and pistons.
4. Have the cranshaft, rods, rings, pistons installed.
All the above must do machining, $350.00 - $450.00
New pistons can be from $10.00 - $30.00 a piece.
New rods are about $20.00 - $35.00 a piece.
Balancing between $60.00 - $80.00.
Have everything installed, between $60.00 - $100.00.
That's about it for now. Get back to us on how things go for you.
We'll talk with you again soon!
