Timing question

On the instructions on the hood sticker it says "disconnect the in line spout connector and set at 10 degrees btdc"

Can anyone help identify what the in line spout connector is?

its location depends on what vehicle you have. On my 95, it's located near the EEC diagnostic connector near the firewall of the driver's side under the hood. Sometimes they're located by the distributor, and possibly other places.

it's a little plug that connects 2 leads together normally. It allows the computer to control ignition timing. When you unplug it, the computer cannot control the timing, and what you're left with is called "base timing"..

If you want to, you can experiment with your base timing and possibly get more power and economy. You could try 12, sometimes even 14 degrees of base timing. My vehicle doesn't like extra timing at all.

There isn't much call to adjust the base timing as such. It won't really move much on its own.

The spout plug is in the harness with the TFI module so in this case it is hanging off the distributor.

It is a 1990 7.5L so the SPOUT (timing test lead) is located away from the TFI (ICM) at the rear of LH fender apron, 9A in the image below.
