so ive read on the pump.. idles about 200 psi.. max is supposed to be around 2800.. but havent found the spec that coresponds the the rpm range for the high end... (which ive noticed ford does this alot with their specs. gives you only half the spec).. have had it up to 4000 rpm a few times since putting it in.. hasnt popped yet.. but wont be surprised if it does.. if i end up doing it again theyll be steel.. yes even brasscraft states the "iron pipe" brass couplings are only rated for 1200 psi..
but to be honest those brass fittings will hold better than that filter will.. bypass trips at 25psi... burst pressure of the filters casing is only 250 psi.. had originally planned to use the fl-1a filter.. but its bypass trips at 12psi and bursts at 200psi.. and the 11/32" line they use for the power steering fluid to the oil cooler and back bursts at 300psi..far lower than the 2800 psi spec ford states for the pump to output... if those hoses were holdiing the full 2800 psi ford stats theyd have to be much thicker and really reinforced fittings.. as to what the rating is for the factory spring clamps are rated to with stand ive not be able to find a spec for those..
just some things to keep in mind there. its always good to make sure you look at the system as a whole not just a single piece of it... the components that are associated with it have their own min and maximum operating specs as well.
