Gents, the water weather seems to have brought about a new symptom. I was tuning my truck up and it got pretty warm when idling (200º) took it for a drive, drove really well, then it started cutting out at higher throttle. Almost smoothed out. Didn't really miss, just lost power and cut in and out. Pulled over and it quit on me. Stumbled and flat died. Wouldn't restart. Fiddled around, got it to pop over. A little while later, it started and I foolishly tried to turn around. Died, sideways in the road. Folks just invented new ways of going around instead of bothering to help.... Got it to start again, and no playing around, just hit it in reverse. Got a ways, and was able to turn around. Truck then idled fine and drive great the rest of the way home. When I pumped the throttle when it was very hot, the accelerator pump sprayed a good stream of fuel. Does this sound electrical to you, or fuel related? Thanks a ton.
I have had coils go out when hot and provide spark again once cooled... after your ballast resistor providing high voltage you may have fried the coil?
That is a good thought, but I just bought a new coil, and have not had BR issues since.
If I can get it to quit again (hopefully not), I will give it a shot for spark. Just by the way it was cranking, it was getting zero ignition, whether that be fuel or spark. Started pretty weakly when it did, but quickly smoothed out and ran great.
Also had a farm truck that would die when hot... turned out a rubber fuel hose going to the pump collapsed when hot. Check fuel hoses to be sure they are firm and not kinked.
