Light Budget Hot Rot

Hi all, I'm looking to add a little power and aggressiveness to my 292 y block without completely breaking the bank and blowing / rebuilding the motor. To start, the truck is a 1961 F100 with the t98 4 speed. I've been looking at Isky cams, but I'm not quite sure what grind cam shaft to get or if I should even bother at all. If I do get a cam I will also be replacing lifters and valve springs and possibly rocker arms and shafts. Right now the motor runs strong and healthy but I'm planning a re gasket because she sat for a while, a four barrel carb and intake, and a pertronix III ignition system. I have patriot headers and 2.25" true dual straights with thrush packs for exhaust. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

ignition

if your engine is running pretty good. I would replace the ignition system first and drive the crap out of it. I dont have any experience with the petronix stuff. I have always used the ford duraspark for my conversions but, I have heard that the petronix is a good quality product. I would get a new dizzy just because of the age of yours and the bushing are probably pretty worn out by now.
