2004 ford f250 SD 6.0, started having problems with truck last week, drove truck to get fuel, pulled out of station onto uphill truck nearly died, putted 1/2 mile up hill blowing black smoke. Finally hit parking lot at top of hill shut truck down, hell of a time restarting... Then it died during idol. Let sit for 30 minutes, started up fine drove home, 2 miles later did same thing when truck warmed up. Baffled... Run great cold runs like crap or not at all warm
Drain some fuel into a clear container off the HFCM and see if you just pumped water in with the diesel. Don't depend on the Water In Fuel light to warn you...
You will probably not hear anybody ask ( do you have any Gauges ) lol ones that will monitor live data via OBD port ? I'm thinking ICP try unhooking it and see if she straightens out , also look for oil on or in the connection.
Smells like perhaps a HP oil leak, classic-- starts good runs good cold, then won't restart hot. Not sure where the black smoke comes into play though?
