Rusted out rockers?
When we bought our 07 EL last year one thing I watched for was northern vehicles....bought one that spent it's whole life in TN just like my 00 Excursion. However I discovered both my rockers are completely rotted out. The frame and drive train are clean, but further inspection shows rust starting on all the spot welded areas of the floor pan and body structure underneath. Anyone else have this problem?
I can't even find any patch panels for the 3rd gen?
My 7 year older excursion is rock solid.... Should I just trade it in on another or fix the rockers and undercoat it?

Peeling/bubbling paint and premature rusting are the norm for Ford these days. All of the 3rd gen Expeditions have the issue to some degree regardless of where they came from so it's up to you if you want to repair the present issue or try your hand with another. There is a Facebook page with over 1,000 members all experiencing similar issues with Fords from 1 to 12 years old. My '00 Mountaineer had no such issues; Ford dropped the ball somewhere along the way.
