I'm setting up my '92 to flat tow behind my rv. As of now it requires leaving a key in the igniton so the wheels turn. Need to be able to change that. Anybody have write up or pics.
The lock mechanism is inside the column and can't be accessed without disassembling it. It's an easy job if you're good with basic hand tools and mechanical stuff. Just remove the column from the truck, throw it up on the bench and start taking it apart. You'll soon figure out what does what.
Also if you have an airbag column make sure you don't spin the wheel around once the steering shaft is disconnected or you'll break the clockspring (flat ribbon cable that connects the airbag/horn/cruise wiring from the wheel to the column harness).

I was hoping to not pull the column. No airbag.
Thanks
Why not just disconnect the battery and leave the key on?
Also, I highly recommend removing as much power steering fluid as you can from the pump reservoir before towing this. Ford PS pumps have a bad habit of spraying fluid everywhere out the cap when you turn the wheels with the engine off.
