Hey guys, were can I locate the vin number on me truck f5
So I can tell missus to take a look,I haven't even seen this thing yet!
Excited to put in the vin decoder and find out about it.
There is nothing in the glove box.:
In those days they didn't have a VIN (as such), but it should be on the top frame rail, uh, "drivers" side down there, towards the cab. Can be hard to find/see.
Welcome to FTE!! The US built '48-'52 trucks have the serial number stamped on top, right hand side of the frame, next to the rivets for the back part of the motor mount bracket. The serial number will begin and end with a star. It is usually not stamped real deep, so be careful cleaning the area. There will be a tag drive screwed to the upper right hand corner of the firewall with the serial number stamped on it. There are some production code numbers and letters stamped on the upper center of the firewall, approximately 3/8" tall characters either just above or just below the horizontal seam. These will give you the mfg date, assembly plant and color. There are a couple of threads here for serial numbers, '48-'50 and '51-'52. Post all the info you find on the appropriate thread and someone will decoded it for you.
