I've been around trucks, many kinds, and 4x4's since I was 15, and that was 54 years ago, but I have absolutely no idea what this is; or what it does. I'm anxious to have my curiosity quenched. Thanks a lot. Vic
Obvious actually, now that it has been named. Should have thought about it myself. Wonder if it still works. Not important though now that I know the truck won't explode when it's yanked out. Thanks guys.
So old school that it is tapped into the brake system. All you see now days is an electric one. Cap off the T when removed.
I have zero idea what you mean about "the T," but it make me think I should be cautious when removing it. :-) So did this control the truck's brakes or the trailer's brakes? Or both somehow???
Look over your controller very well, look for a solid brake line coming from it, and going thru the fire wall and T'ing into you master cylinder.
I think is use to work by getting/sensing brake line pressure from the m/s and then converting that to an electric signal and applying it thru the trailer wiring to the electric trailer brakes.

Well now, that is old school. Thanks a lot for the directions. That thing just looks obnoxious and I want it out of there for that reason alone.
They do work well tho. Still preferred by some guys because they operate off of pedal pressure vs electronic signal. They dont work so well on abs systems, one reason they arent available any longer
I also have one in my 78. I'm in the process of putting a new master cylinder and booster on. Is there any special instructions when it comes to bleeding the line to the brake controller?
In investigating this controller I may have been hasty to conclude it should be 86'd. Can anyone tell me if any component has to added to the towed vehicle for this system to work as designed?
Or maybe go to the trailer forum where this question probably belongs? :-)
