Question How To Remove a EFI Intake ??

I'm picking up an 87 F150 w/4.9L engine tomorrow!

Anyways, I need to pull off the EFI Intake to remove the valve cover to tighten a Rocker arm or maybe replace the lifters.

Can someone tell me the R&R procedure to remove the EFI Intake please ??

How To Remove a EFI Intake ??

You only have to remove the upper and it's pretty easy. There are seven bolts that hold the upper and lower together on the passenger's side of the engine. There is one support brace on the driver's side that goes from just below the throttle body to the cylinder head. You will either have to remove the EGR valve from the intake (probably easiest) or remove the EGR tube from the valve (probably more difficult). Other than that it's just vacuum hoses and such.

On the driver's side at the same level as the distributor cap.

Are the lifters fairly easy to access after the cover is removed ??

I've never changed them in the truck, but I don't know of any reason why they would be difficult. Removing the distributor might be a necessity, and even if it's not that would probably make the job easier.
