460 oil pressure issues after oil change
So took my truck to shop for free tire rotation and decided get oil change while there. After they drained oil they notified me they only had 5w 30 high mileage oil after I told them I wanted 10w40. They assured me would not make much of a difference. After 5 miles lifters started ticking. Took back to shop they put full syn additive in and sorta suited down. I headed home after. 3 miles later no oil pressure all lifters clattering shut truck off pulled over and towed. Once home started truck to move and oil pressure back. Next day took oil and filter off put 15w 40 rotella in. Started test drive 15 miles no tick good pressure thought all was well. Next day drive 20 miles lifters start ticking, progressing into clatter still have pressure. Turn around head home again and pressure starts bouncing then come to stop pressure stays up. What happened.?
Also this motor never made a tick or knock since I bought it 15k miles ago. Any help be appreciated. Thank you.

If it continues to act up after driving it more, I would be inclined to swap out the oil filter for a Motorcraft. Wix makes NAPA filters, so you may have had one and the same.
I remember about 1975, my dad had a NAPA filter on a '67 Galaxie with a 289, and the oil pressure light came on and you could let it set and then drive it a ways before the oil light would come on again. I have no idea if NAPA filters were made by Wix at that time. Just a thought.

Why not just rebuild the 460 matched with a zf? You will need a zf from a 460, not sure if the 7.3 zfs will work.

Not sure if anyone cares or reading this but today drained oil and strained through coffee filter. A lot of carbon coming out still no metal. So decided to add two quarts diesel ran twice in two minute intervals. Drained that all out still lot carbon. Now letting soak over night with 6 quarts diesel trying to get screen cleaned out I guess. Big project to get pan off. Trying this first. Anyone ran into this before and tried what I am. Just curious if will work.
