Maintenance Records
I'm approaching mileage for a first oil change (almost 5K on it now) and was wondering what to do.
Take it in or do it myself like I've always done?
That brings up the second part of my question...
How do you create a tangible record of DIY service and maintenance you do?
For example, I didn't save the receipts from when I bought four gallons of Rotella T6 last year.
I bought it planning to change the oil in my 6.0L, but wound up buying this new truck and selling the 6.0L before changing the oil.
I also didn't save the receipt when I bought an oil filter for my 6.7L a couple months ago that I caught on sale and just grabbed for future use.
So how can I prove to the dealer or Ford, or a future potential buyer when I decide to sell, that this truck got it's first oil change in my driveway?
Has that ever been a problem for anyone for warranty work?
P.S. - Do you guys think that Rotella T6 that's been sitting in my garage for well over a year now is still okay to use? "Synthetic" doesn't spoil in storage right? LOL!?
BTW, $5 rebate now for up to four rebates for the year for Shell T-6
You do not have to maintain maintenance records to prove maintenance.
But, it certainly does not hurt to keep records.
I keep track of all my fuel and maintenance costs on a phone app, "Gas Cubby".
It is more for my convenience then to prove anything to anyone else.
The nice thing about that app is it does everything I need it to do for multiple vehicles.
I currently use it for my truck, wife's car, motorcycle, golf cart, toy hauler, standby generator and boat.
