I was thinking about entering my truck into a mud drag competition and I was wondering if a could make my stock Ranger lighter but keep the V6 and still run in the stock class. Thank you for the help
Wierd as it may seem, in Mud drags lighter isnt always better. Getting the vehicle to "hook" and accelerate is the key to having a good quick run. I've seen many times where a truck was stripped down with lots of Hp but couldnt beat some of the less worthy entrants. Mud drags arent like asphalt drags, a drag car can use weight transfer to its advantage in getting the car to grip the track and produce low 60 ft times. I would be more concerned about tire and gear choice for the stock class. In any case, get a copy of the rules from the group putting on the drag and see what they will allow in the stock class. There are usually differences in the rules depending on where you plan to race. Most races have a minimum wieght for each class so as long as you meet it (including Driver) you should be ok. Good luck!!

You might just want to wait on the performace stuff. Just go get some Mud tires and enter. See what ya do. Then adjust accordingly. No sense in spending money that you might not have to. You can't expect to win the first time out.
Hmm... I have never heard of a consistancy class for Mud drags. I know about running bracket drags on asphalt where you run your "dial in" and try to come as close as possible to your number without going faster than your dial in. Where are you running these kind of drags? Sounds like fun.
