Any thing special I should look for? I currently have an 06 and was wondering if there would be any difference in the ride or handling. Will the fuel mileage be better or worse with the gas engine. According to the app on my phone my overall mileage with the diesel is 16.4 and that include every fill up the last 3 years. My best was 24 and my worst was 8mpg
I'm at 13.6 over the last 24,000 miles. I do some towing but not as much as I have with my other trucks. I can get a over 16 on the highway if I'm willing to drive 60 to 65 MPH. The gasser tends to get worse mileage than the diesel so I doubt you would ever see 23 MPGs.
Best I ever got was 19, and that was with a 50 mph tailwind. It makes a huge difference in the gas truck how fast you drive it. If you can manage to keep it at 60, you can get 15-17 depending on headwind/loads/hills. If you drive it at 70 under the same conditions, expect around 14.
A tonnou cover makes a difference as well Mine went up just shy of 1 mpg after install.
I have a 2011 and 2015 at work and both are fine, had a minor issue with the 2015 but was handled by Ford under warranty the 2011 has seen some work related "abuse" from just day to day stuff and she is actually starting to have some tranny issues. That said she has 95k of mostly in town and alot of moving equipment in the bed and plowing so that is probably most of it.
Other than those they are great, but yeah 10-15mpg is what you are going to get.
