Dallas

Hey I am new to the forum and working on my 78. Just seeing if anyone from the Dallas area has an older truck.

Thank you. The truck was my grandfathers. I learned to drive in this truck. I used to drive in his pastures. He bought it new. It is a regular cab long bed with a 460. I have done a lot of motor work to it. Cam, intake, headers, carburetor, port and polished, bored out and a serpentine belt system. I am doing all the body work on it myself and am going to do suspension work as well. Currently I am looking for a new bed and doors or door skins.

Awesome story!

Sounds like you have done a lot of great work already

I've had trouble finding intact door at the salvage yards. Most of the time the doors are banged up beyond my ability to repair if they exist at all.

Beds I've seen have been pretty bad as well. Might be worth looking at aftermarket patches or panels depending on how bad they are now and what your welding skills are.

Thank you. I have been thinking about just doing the door skins and bed skins. I am definitely not a great welder.

I've got a '78 - live up in North Dallas area. I was looking for a new tailgate last year and found the "national craigslist search tools" helpful. Remember seeing a couple full beds in Texas (down by the border) that didn't look in too bad a shape.
