Build thread. Or something close to
73 f250. Ive had it for about two years. This was taken shortly after i got it, because i see it has new pipes.
It was a farm truck for its entire life. I got it off ol craig, and his list of junk. I think i paid $1250 or something like that for it. Its been two years. I forget stuff. This was after i got it and cleaned it up
Starting to change stuff. In bed spare carrier. Got the primer off of the sheet metal. And ebay hubcaps. And mirror mount cb antenna.
So...here it goes.
When i got the truck it had a 1973 400 in it mounted on passenger car mounts, welded t the cross member. It ran good, i guess. But there was a knock in the tranny. And i didnt like the way the 400 was mounted. So it had to get gone
Engine hoist didnt want to roll on hot asphalt that was pretty fresh. At this point ive had the truck two months. I get bored easily.
This is the 390 i built for the truck. Along with a good junkyard t18
So i got bored with that set up and went with a different holley on an edelbrock rpm. So i had to go with different valve covers. Mallory dual point is in there now also
Different stuff again
Crusty old headliner
Cut out a new backer board. Dont hit the dining room table with the jigsaw blade, or your wife might fuss
3m adhesive on vinyl from hancock fabric. I jad a coupon. It was cheap
Installed. With xlt trim fron junkyard
Gnarly dash pad. Had to go
Green ebay dash pad. Also changed the steering wheel, from a junkyard falcon. Different cluster bezel also
New seat cover and carpet. Did the seat in the house. Turned out pretty good. It fits better now that ive sat around in it
So i took a break. Got a couple old harleys. Got them going. Found this on cl for 375. Had to have it. 76 frame etc with a 78 f150 body
**** poor photo haha. But its on a trailer. And its heavier than 10 hells.
At the shop. Coming apart. Took the rotting wood flat bed off at home. Along with the front clip. Locust rear leafs to replace the shredded og ones
Junkuard bound. Good bartering material
Hub bolts broken? Dont fret! Just weld the outer to the hub! After surgery to disassemble
I thought i took a pic. But i drilled and tapped 6 new holes in the hub.
Next up...fix this mess
And...done
Then there was that notch for dual exhausts. I guess thats why it was done
Back on the ground
Painted frame. New springs front and rear. All brakes rebuilt. All seals replaced.
2wd under the knife. Tank has already been mounted in the cab
Yep.
Engine out. Green light.
Engine in highboy frame. Using stock manifold. F ever having to replace another starter on an fr powered truck. Ill take the loss of power over that mess.
2 post lift making life easier
Solid cab mounts. Anyone want a totally rebuild f250 2wd frame and etc?
Friday night
Friday night.
I dont feel like i got crap done yesterday. But i did. Lots of little stuff. Wiring. Hooking things up. Body mounts. Rear mount holes were different between frames and years and cabs. Steering column shaft was different lengtg. Had to go to junkyard and get the old one out of the other cab. Already had it out. Meant to keep it. Didnt got all the interior in. Todays goal is front sheet metal on and bed on. Should be a good day. Sunmy and warm

Lusting over the impractical. Had my heart set on some p78-16 grip spur wide mudders.
But practicality and common sense won in this case. And i got some very nonagressive 235/85r16 firestone transforce at. Good tires. Just wont impress the gas station crowd. I really didnt want to live with another set of bias ply tires after the 7.50-16 set i got for my travelall. Theyre okay in the warm months. But the shaking during the cold months is horrible. And honestly, im on hardtop or dirt 98% of the the time. Im stil going to run the two piece wheels tho.
My 66 travelall 1200a. Sitting on 7.50-16 bias ply tires. Load range d. With 40lbs of air, anything below 40° would rattle the magnets off the dash.
Almost there
Got duals welded up. Bed on. Mounting tires tomorrow on 16x7 ford steel wheels. Wanted to stick with the two piece wheels, beause i like them. Might still go with them after theyre powder coated. Who knows. Truck runs good tho, need to swap out the master cylinder this weekend, to the correct one for the two piston brakes. But its about ready. Should be on the road sunday
