Tranny Problems

Having tranny problems. She's an automatic. Seems to have lost 2 and 1 drive capability. Runs in Drive ok but gets superheated and I can hear the tranny whirling when the tranny's hot. Then she won't move. I let it cool, start her up, and she goes again until the tranny heats up again. Pretty sure the tranny is bad, but will be happy for some experience here. Never worked on a tranny before.

I don't remember exactly. I tore the engine out over the summer and took notice, but my brain doesn't recall things so well. As I recall the number is on the bell housing. It might be a C5, but don't exactly recall. I'll have to have a look see.

It does have a vacuum hose that goes into a breather in the rear of the tranny.
