Thumper Tranny Update
As far as the shifting, he gave me few cautions: If we simply put it in Drive it'll shift very quickly through the gears so we should plan on shifting it manually when competing so that we can control when it shifts to second. He cautioned that it won't lock out First gear anymore so we have to watch our RPMs when downshifting. If you're familiar with a C6, you know that when in Second, if you drop the lever to First it'll stay in Second till the RPMs drop to safe level and then it'll automatically drop to First. Not anymore. This tranny will drop to First as soon as we yank the lever down even if the engine's already at redline.

With this in mind, we need to look at picking up a floor shifter like a B&M ratchet shifter that locks out each gear as soon as you shift out of it, so you can't drop back into it by mistake and have to unlock it to downshift. I really don't know diddley about these shifters so hopefully someone here has some experience with them. If no one has one laying around that they want to donate to the cause, we could look for one at the Good Guys swapmeet at the car show in November. We could pick up some used Flowmasters at the same time, they're usually about 25 bucks each from what I've seen, and always plentiful.
I have a B&M in my '57...pretty simple to get the hang of it.
Only problem with them is the handles sit pretty low fopr a pickup seat, you have to sorta lean over. I'm sure they make a taller one by now, we'll have to see
