Hey everybody would like to know if this is a good deal or not. I live in Ohio so a lot of trucks you see around here are very rusty. Well just today I found a 1977 F-250 ranger XLT. It is a extended cab with 2 wheel drive. It has a extendable rear bumper for a extra long slide in camper. Two fuel tanks. The engine is a 460 with a automatic. And it also has air cond that blows cold. This truck was brought here about two months ago from San Diego CA. There is no rust on this thing that I can see. He wants 3000 dollars for it.
The question is should I get rid of my 71 F250 that needs so much work it isn't funny and get about ten steps ahead with a restoration.
I would, I like the 77 body and trim the best myself and it sounds like it is much farther along than the old 71. Parts are also more plentiful for the 77 since there were only minor changes between 73 and 79.

Sounds good to me. Do the usual check-up stuff, see if it has been wrecked, whether its original, whether the engine or trans has been rebuilt etc. I think it will work better for you than your 71.
Keep in mind that very few parts will interchange between the 67-72 model years and the 73-9 model years. I like the 67-72 body style better but its way cheaper to build a 77 than 71. Plus that 460 will wake things up.
Actually almost everything will interchange between the 67-72 and the 73-79.
It is just that the body lines do not match up between the different years
thanks for everybody's reply. I am going to look at it again today and take it for a drive and really crawl around this truck. I think that I am going to get it. My wife is even saying to buy it.
