I'd like to add a trailer brake modulator to my dad's 2003 F250 Camper Special. Is there already a wire running from the trailer connector in the back to underneath the dash that I can hook into, or am I going to need to run a new line?
Take the panel off under the dash and there is a plug taped to the back of the dash support on the right side. There should be a matching "pig tail" in the glove box. Wire the pig tail to your new Prodigy controller and stick the mounting braket to the underside of the dash (below your cubby hole) with 3M double sided automotive tape. Done. No leveling needed with the Prodigy.
You should have a connecter in your glove box, it will plug into a female connecter just to the right of the steering column. Read the instruction as to how wire in your brake modulator. Takes longer to read than connect.
My trailer package for my 2000 came with the plug for electric brake contole in the glovebox. I forgot to take it when the TravelTrailer Dealer when they did the install, so they had to tap into the wire harness anyway.
back in the olden days we had to tap into the Hydraulic system at the mastercylinder, but withABS system they say it can't be done.
You should be able to wire it in, my bro-inlaw did it and he's kno brain surgen.
