i am currently running Michelin LTX2's on my 06 6.0 4wd super cab long bed
these have been good tires but time to replace
i was thinking to either replace with the same or try a set of BFG KO2's. I drive mainly on the street in the northwest so mostly rain and few days of snow. car trailer some times
was thinking something more aggressive might look better on the truck and be a nice change
what i don't want is a stiffer, louder ride though
I had the continental tires on my truck and switched to the KO's and while they are great tires, I lost 2mpg. I was actually thinking about switching to the Michelin when I need to switch because they don't look as aggressive.

Did you jump to a larger/wider tire? I can't see a tread pattern, or the weight being that much different on a similar sized tires, to cause such drastic loss in mpg.
I just bought my first super duty, but when it comes time for tires it will be ko's. My dad has ran them(slightly oversized) on his f250s since 2002, and I've driven his trucks a lot. Excellent street manners, look great(that's an opinion I guess), and he gets lots of miles out of them. Always had plenty of traction on the job sights. Never had a problem with a tire, and there has been a few very heavy loads in the beds. Noise or balance has never been an issue with them.
I bought a used set of wheel and ko's for my 06 f150. They had hardly any miles on them. I didn't realize they were 10 ply, had to air them way down for a good ride on a light truck, I think 30 lbs, been a while. But I put 40k on them before trading the truck in and the tread looked like it could have went 40k more.
Just went from a LT245/75 17 Firestone Transforce AT to 265/70 17 KO2s on my 2014 F250. The ride actually seems a touch softer than the Firestones. We had a little crappy weather this week with ice & snow and they definitely out perform the Firestones in that department.
So far I'm extremely happy with these tires.
Has any one ran a set of Dura Grappler tires made by Nitto?
I had their Terra Grappler LR E tires. Did not care for them. Virtually no traction in rain, snow, or mud. The Dura Grappler could be a fantastic tire; I'll never know because I am sour on Nitto.
I had BFG's on my Jeep and I've got them now on my truck. I see no reason to mess with perfection.
I took the Continentals off of my truck immediately as I can't stand the traction on any surface.
My truck is mainly driven on pavement, however it is also used for snow plowing and salting. It is also used to get to my vacation property in northern Michigan. I am beyond happy with traction on all surfaces.
I did go up a few sizes to a 285/75/18. I will try and attach a few pictures. I have almost 10k on them now and I don't notice any wear.
Here's a pic I posted on my thread from last week about upsizing my tires. Gives you an idea of how they fill the wheel well a little better than stock size.
I also have new headlight assemblies coming from Amazon so that'll change the appearance too.
stuff deer did you put a leveling kit on or is it stock? Did your mileage change? If so how much?
Nope, not leveling kit. I do have the 10k GVWR package and Plow package from the factory. It's weird though because I have a 4 leaf spring pack in the rear and every other new 250 I have looked at has 3 pack leaf spring. I do not have the camper package so i don't have the overload spring either.
I also have a 16 regular cab for a work truck and it is set up the same way with plow prep and 10k package and it only has the 3 pack leaf spring in the rear.
And to be completely honest I do not have a good representation of mileage from the truck yet. This summer is wont be pulling a trailer and will be strictly a personal truck so I will know after spring. I have been plowing and salting with it which is a lot of back and forth and I am still registering 8.5 on the lie o meter. Normally also has 2 yards of salt and the weight of the salter in the bed. Roughly 5k lbs.
I'm fairly certain I should see 11-12 in the city and 14-17 on the highway. I went with the 285/75/18 because I wanted a 35" tire but have had issues balancing a 12.5 wide tire on the stock rims before. So this size is perfect. Comes out to just a hair under 35 and 11.4 or so wide.
Well, I lied in my first post. I did a lot around the house this weekend. Put a metal roof on the garage, put out mulch and started redoing the roof on the back porch. Had to put the truck in 4x4 3 times in the yard and once was on flat ground. It's a little damp, but not a soup bowl here by any means, These factory tires suck off the blacktop. They will not have a chance to wear out before I put the oversized ko's on.
I just got rid of the Michelins and went with the KO2. Ive had The all terrains on all my trucks and I love them. Get lots of milage out of them, their quiet, and they are awesome in the snow.
