you will want to measure the overall length first, some of the trucks used the long output shaft transmission where the Crown vic will be an 1" shorter.

IF they are the same length, the only difference will be the governor shift speed and the shift linkage. Trucks shift at 4500 RPM and cars shift at 4200 RPM. simple enough to swap the governor, which requires removing the extension housing. Shift linkage might be the same since they are both column shift vehicles, if you do have to swap it, you will need to remove the transmission pan.

didn't the trucks come with a wider OD band?
1.5" vs 1" for the cars?

Nope, all AODs had a 1.5" band. AODE transmission was upgraded to 2" band.

The extension housing is the same. It is in the truck and working. I swapped the shift linkage and the tv linkage.I also replaced the front seal, rear seal and the filter. Put in new rear main seal. Set the tv line pressure with the thickness gauge and a pressure gauge. It shifts up and down goes into overdrive. So we will see how long it lasts.
