AOD Shift Lever

Looking for a shift lever for my 4x4 AOD Transmission off a 1990 F150.

It's the shift lever on the AOD's that were cable shifted. (Up until 1992)

FORD Part number: F2UZ-7A256-A

If anyone has one, can get a hold of one, or can tell me where to get one.. that would be greatly appreciated.

You need the one from the transmission? Any trans shop should be able to order you one, or look in the junkyards for a 'rebuildable' AOD and remove one.

I need the one from my old transmission actually, which was a 2WD AOD originally out of my '92 F150. It is the one pictured above, found that picture online.

Need to switch the lever over to the 4x4 AOD, made my truck a 4x4 and the shift linkage setup is different.

My stepdad thought by whacking on the lever with a hammer to remove it would work, WRONG. Now I need to find a replacement. Pan has to be dropped to remove.

I am going to check the local junkyard on Friday, but they don't have much there. Also no tranny shops anywhere near where I live. If somebody could by chance get one for me, I can repay them.

Try NAPA. They can get all sorts of strange parts. If that fails do a google or bing search on transmission parts suppliers.

Thanks, I'll try NAPA as well if I don't find one at the junkyard on my day off Friday.

Have tried two transmission parts suppliers that I have found so far:

Wittrans.com - they have it on their website and I had ordered one but contacted me saying they could not find one anywhere so I was refunded my money.

And then this other place in Oregon, dot have the website at the moment but he had one listed as well so I ordered it but same deal as the first.

Looked the part number up on Fordparts.com and looks like it is no longer made. There has to be one somewhere...

Need some serious help here guys, checked everywhere in town, shops, auto parts stores, dealerships, NOTHING.

Somebody has got to be able to help me find one of these at one of their local junkyard or tranny shop. I will pay for it!

Tranny is leaking about 1 quart a day now, and the only way to replace this lever is dropping the pan, so would like to do both at once to save money on tranny fluid costs!

Finally came to a resolution (I hope!)

After checking almost every junkyard in the surrounding areas, I found a transmission shop about an hour away that said he may be able to help. Went there, hoping to find one, but no luck. He had one but it was for an AOD-E tranny, lever was slightly different.

So he offered to go to the junkyard down the road with us, and we couldn't find one there so we just took a lever from a AOD trans, was still different, but cut off the top part of the lever, and cut and MIG welded my broken off lever to the one we found.

The outcome:

Just need to grind the welds down and should be good to go.

The guy that helped me out rebuilds transmissions and he has many different transmission parts suppliers, he contacted every one and none of them could find the original that I needed. It's like it vanished off the face of the earth.

Oh well this should take care of it now.
