older engine swap? 5.4 HELP!
hello I am new here. I have owned many ford trucks currently own a 2000 f250 with a v10 a 93 f350 with a 7.3 a 92 f150 with a 4.2 and my son has a 2006 f-150. my boy is getting his temps in a week and wants his truck running! we bought it was a bad engine shes seized up tight. it has the 5.4 I know its a 3v and the older ones are 2v. what are the other differences? can I put say a 1999-2002 engine in it? what would have to be done to make it work?. I just cant swing a 2004 or newer engine right now they cost so much more

The amount of things such as PCM and wiring harnesses would put you well over the price of an 04 rebuilt.
