Looking a 4.9L 300 for my 78f150. Found one out a 92f150.Worried if my 3speed man will bolt right on or not and if ill have issues taking off the fuel injected manifold and putting my old ones back on? Any input on what im missing would be appreciated.
The transmission will bolt up no worries. There may not be a place to mount the clutch pivot ball though - the '96 block I've got hasn't got it so I presume all EFI blocks are the same - being introduced long after Ford went to hydraulic clutches.
No problem swapping the intake over, however, an EFI block does not have the boss for the mechanical fuel pump machined though, so you'd need to have it drilled/machined to accept the stock fuel pump or switch to an electric fuel pump.
My '96 EFI Block had the Clutch pivot boss, maybe some had them and some didn't...
To fully utilize the EFI heads with a carb, you might consider a distributor recurve. EFI Heads are fastburn heads, but I never had a problem when I ran a carb on mine.
As you change the serpentine belt system and put all of your v-belt pulleys on etc. The water pump may need to be changed as well, since most if not all of the EFI 300's had a reverse rotation fan & water pump unless the impellers are flat then you may be able to use them in either direction.
My 91" block had the clutch stud boss drilled already.
