Time to change the tires on the old 1/2 ton 77. I've been using BFG T/A 235r60x15 and 255r60x15 and would like a little stiffer sidewall but still a good traction tire. I don't go off road.

Any thoughts?

What are your priorities (dry handling, ride, snow, etc.)?

Tirerack.com's product selector is pretty helpful for street tires...have you tried that?

I've just started to look but straight ahead traction/performance have been my priorites. Not worried about snow, rain or off road.

Well, believe it or not, the Kumho ECSTA STX came out on top of Tirerack's summer truck tires with some absolutely stellar ratings. Worth a look...

If you want a stiffer sidewall, get larger rims and a smaller sidewall.

Yeah...if the budget permits, that would work. Going with larger wheels and low-profile tires can get really pricey really quick on a truck, though...

The tirerack doesn't list trucks for 78 for type of vehicle. Do you go with Bronco to use their search engine?

If they don't cover your vehicle, the next best thing to do is to look at the category of tire you want, and check the ratings. These are reported by people with all kinds of different vehicles, so it should be reasonably representative for your vehicle (as long as you're not trying to find a mudder for your Vette or something)...
