It's time to start thinkin about replacing the old tires. I've been abusing B.F.G. Radial T/As for years but would like to change to something with a little stiffer sidewall. Probably in 235r60x15 and 255r60x15.

I don't need an aggressive tread but like good straight line traction.

What do you guys like?

I'm very pleased with the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 235/75R15. Nice water dissipation & traction on road, and for the little offroading that my 2wd allows, is more than enough.

Try the BFG all-terrain or the trail t/a. BFG has the best tires in the bussiness!!

I put a set of Bridgstone Dueler ATs on my not-ford truck about 1.5 years ago. Although I was happy with their traction and handling, I'm not at all pleased with their tread wear. They're almost bald after 25,000 miles.

I know a lot of things play into tread wear, but the first set of Goodyears I had lasted 50,000 miles under the exact same driving conditions.

I've ran Goodyear's, BFG's, and Big-O brand tires on my 150. I ran 245 60 15's all around on matching AR-26 rims. Traction was ok, about the same with all the tires, maybe a little better with the Goodyear's, but, the cornering was always great. I take it you have some type of wider, aftermarket wheel to wrap those bad boy's around.

Well I'm getting some food for thought. The rims are 15x8.

The BFGs just seem to get "lumpy" feeling on the truck as they wear and I get a little horizontal movement with a load in the back. Never had that problems with them on a car. I already have sway bars so there isn't any lean just sort of a yaw feeling.

Getting the same sizing may limit my on the tires selection.

For a "bargain", I really like the NTB 'Viper TR' 275/60 R15 on the same 8x15. This is a comfortable, quiet tire on the highway. Sticks really nice around corners, and I guess I'm getting around 40K out of a set. The compound is quite a bit softer than the TA and easier to 'catch' in a slide. (Not such an abrupt loss of traction). I am on a lot of construction sites and the NTB road-hazard has payed for itself many times over. They run about $80.00 a copy. They are usesless in any kind of mud, they load up fast and hold it. I usually go with an 'S" rated as I spend a lot of time near or over 80 MPH in very hot weather, but have had no problems with this 'R' tire. (4+ hrs at over 100 in west TX). No, I do not own stock in NTB!

Interesting. But what is NTB? I haven't heard of them. One prob I have on the back is I can only run 20 psi or so. Since there is normally no load the 275s wear out immediately in the middle!

Going to a 16" or 17"rim isn't out of the question. Don't know if I would like the look.

NTB is National Tire and Battery (recently purchased by Sears)
I am sure the tires are made for them by who knows?
I run the full 44 PSI and have even wear. GL

Go with the Coopers! They've lasted me longer than any other brand of tire.

I second the Cooper tire vote! I'm very impressed with the wear, and traction from mine.

Most people I know had the best luck with Goodyear MTRs....better traction and simply more versatile (on and off-road) than ATs.....that's what I'm about to be putting onto my truck as soon as 37x15x12.50s get off of backorder
