Split Bench Seat Latch Cable

My '79 F-150 has split bench seat backs. The cable that releases the latch to fold the passenger seat back is broken. I can't seem to locate one. I would think the Bronco uses the same part. Anybody know of a source?

John.. I have same issue
I was going to fab my cable... and parts are as close as your home depot.. they have small cable AND swaging clamps.. the kind you loop thru and then hammer shut or vice squeeze.. or it youre high dollar you have the tool that looks like a bolt cutter with a clamp on the end...

Anyway.. thats what Im going to do...

Here is an example from google

and its cheap to make

Removing a Swage Fitting on a steering cable

Here is the parts diagram, now just get the cover off and see about replacing the cable, if it is broke.

And yes a 78/79 Bronco and SC truck will have the same split folder bench.

Notmeofficer got me thinking about my split bench seat cable issue. I ended up using a cable off a bicycle shifter. I cut the ring section off a ring post connector, and crimped the barrel section to the stub of the seat cable (photo one). I fished the cable through the seat tube, and crimped a ring post to the end (photo two). I finished up by hooking the ring post to a double-nutted bolt in the seat latch lever (photo three). It seems to be working, and I didn't have to disassemble the seat.

I know it’s a little late but my 82 Bronco had the same issue, I worked in security for a Casino and their security keys where using a thicker version of this wire for their key sets so when we did inventory of all keys we cut and replaced certain keys and threw away the wires, I got my hands on some and the security locks that go with them and slapped them on and tucked the lock from the locking hinge and it works just as well, and they’re adjustable found out you could get them off Amazon (
Amazon Steel Cable with Anti Tamper Lock Amazon Steel Cable with Anti Tamper Lock
) so I have just been getting some from there about $34.99 for 50 of them with a wire length of about 11inches or more, they’re thicker and stronger than the stock cable, just been putting two locks on each end and they secure tight if you do use them tuck the lock away from the seats clamp mechanism that locks your seat to the hook or you won’t be able to lock your seat in place, learned from experience haha, also yes it does fit in the wire placement hole that goes through your seat to the lever, just cut the lock off of one wire and attach it to a new wire and your good to go uses a ball bearing that goes one way so you’ll have to face it the way it secures the wire, like a ziptie but steel cable version lol, again I know it’s a few years late but figured I would share what I found out, good luck!!
