5.4 sparkplug problem
I have been reading about sparkplugs being blown out of the heads stripping out the threads. As I understand it, this is caused in part by using alloy heads but mainly by the small threaded surface securing the plug. (3 or 4 threads)
I have heard that Ford has increased the number of threads.
Can anybody tell me when this modification went into effect? Also does Ford put an anti-seizing agent on the plug threads when the engine is assembled?
I just recently purchased an 03 F 150 5.4 Windsor.
It was assembled in Oct. of 02. Thank you!

I dont think you have anything to worry about. The problem was on the earlier ones.
And no they dont put any anti-seize on the threads for the factory. Our Ford service rep recommended not putting any on as he says it can cause problems. Most people do use it without problems though.
