I have a 2000 f150 that is my daily work truck. I'm in the service business repairing garage doors and have it weighed down pretty good. I replaced my front rotors with some from the local parts house and they only lasted about 20,000 miles before they warped. Well I purchased some Powerslot rotors online and Hawks pads hoping to take care of the problem. Sounds easy enough right? Well sunday morning I get up early and get to working replaced both sides in about an hour and a half everything fit perfect and look real good too.
Until I went to put the wheels back on, and the new studs were 14 MM and my old ones were 12 MM. Talk about not being happy. Called every parts place in town not one 14 MM lug nut. Had to wait till Monday morning and pick some up from the dealer. Brought them home fit perfect everythings better back in business, nope the trim cap didn't fit the larger lug nuts .
So does anyone have any ideas on what to do now? I thought about knocking the old studs out of the old rotors but I'm not sure if they have the same size shank?? Do they make a trim ring that will fit both 12MM and 14 MM lug nuts?
Thought this would also be good info for someone buying new aftermarket rotors, the lugs were the last thing I thought about when buying them. The brakes sure feel better though I would definitely recommend them. Thanks for suffering through my long post.
I can see that no one has given you any avice, and the only advice I can say is try to find ones off of a bigger Ford Rim, like an F250 or 350, but then the lug patterns would be different. You may be able to find and inside cup that will go under, under?, the rim. Won't look quite as cool, but at least you won't have the huge bare spot. Sorry man.
