polyurethane rag joint?

I was doing a search for parts I need and found a polyurethane rag joint. Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience with one?

yes and no. for the past month I have been unable to post or send messages on this site from my laptop. It must be a browser incompatibility issue. Anyway this is from my phone. I found it on ebay motors section. only 25 bucks with shipping which is why I am asking.

The rag joint's purpose is to isolate road vibrations from the steering wheel. It seems to me that polyurethane would transmit more vibrations to the driver. Not what I want in a cruiser. Maybe in an autocross truck? That looks just like the rubber ones, just different material.

Yeah that seems like it would knock out the lower shaft column bearing flange in a heart beat. I'd not use it.

I think that polyurethane is used for skateboard wheels so it must have some vibration isolation properties. Think I will order one to check out and if it seems too hard I can return it.

Let us know what you think. I would like to have one as well. Seems like my rubber one gives quite a bit and makes for sloppy steering.

Sloppy then it must be 20,30+ yrs old yup they don't last long.

I think it's also designed to bust away in a head on crash.

I don't think poly busted apart any easier then the oem one.

No it's pretty new. I replaced it twice in the last three years. They just seem to be way too soft. The first replacement I tore when I was strong-arming the steering wheel trying to get into a tight spot

Yes, it is a poly replacement for the made from old tire part.
Flexible & tough, I am going to replace my leaky steering gear in the near future and when I do that I will install the poly in the rag joint.
