for you DIY'ers, how much oil are you getting in the 6.2. The dealer did the first oil change and charged me for 7qts, the owners manual calls for7. I just changed it and it took 8 to show full, I even waited about 15 minutes before putting in the last 1/2. 7 put it at the very bottom of hash marks on stick? Jim
Mine always takes 7 right in the middle of the dipstick marks.
I change it warm, refill, let it settle, check, start let truck idle for a while, recheck 20 or so minutes later.
is the 7 quarts putting you guys at the top of the hash marks on the stick, one mentioned it came to the middle? maybe I'm just being stubborn but that's not full to me.

Where it ends up on the dipstick is inconsequential to me- Mine shows about 3/4 the way up the dipstick after an oil change and the oil has had a day to settle and work in. That is with 7 quarts. That is the designated capacity, so from my perspective, the line on the dipstick is secondary to the actual factory designated capacity. That's what I go by. The only thing I would use the dipstick for is to monitor for oil consumption, which for me, has not been an issue. After 5 k miles, the oil shows at the same level.
The whole time I was thinking "dude you're wasting good oil". I was pleased that the factory filter and drain plug weren't 300 ft/lbs. Also I like that the filter is at least kinda pointing straight up so I was able to prefill but the filter is so short I could only get 1/2 qt in it. I thought the rubber hose/filter adapter was interesting I wouldn't want to have that torn off.
I was happy I got to use an old Bonney 5/8 wrench on the drain plug.
I'm at 6 1/2 qts right now about 3/4 on the dipstick.

Are you sure the truck is level?
I purchased 7 qts. of Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft oil filter at Autozone for $41.46 before tax. Didn't have time to do it myself, so took it to the dealer I purchased it from. For $39.95 they changed the oil and filter, rotated the tires, filled the washer fluid, checked tire pressure, and several other items.
Mine takes 7quarts. I run castrol full synthetic and mobil1 filter. I don't do my oil changes myself to save money. I do them myself to ensure its done properly and I take that opportunity to look around a bit underneath myself. I just inherently don't trust anyone to work on my vehicles at all anymore. To many burns and to many screw ups.
I just changed mine yesterday in my 2016 and it took 7 1/2 qts to get it to the top hole on the dipstick. My 2016 manual says thats the full mark on the dipstick , not the top of the hash marks.
