Ive had a spool in my F-150 for about 3 years now, as my daily driver, with 35's on it. It is a little different driving on snow and ice, but once you get used to it, its not bad at all.
As for the front, I plan on welding my front end once I get the chance.
My bronco II has lincoln lockers front and rear, with 31's and a 302, nothing has broke yet, but im sure it will eventualy. Off road, there is no comparing it to open diffs, its simply amazing.
Also, the axles in a solid dana 44 are no stronger than the TTB axle, the weak link is still the outer two U joints, center U-joint breakage is extremely rare.
I'd beg to differ....the center ujoint yoke is the weak point...it will destoy istelf before the outer shafts...i've broken two of them myself on a open carrier with 35's
I've never seen any stronger axle for the ttb 44, but I'm sureyou can get them made for it, and the only time Ive heard of the center U-joint failing is on prerunner setups, where the center U-joint sees extreme angles.
Otherise the, the center one sees far less of an angle than the outer two.
